Job Club
Barnet Churches Action is launching an employability scheme called Hope Corner Job Club.
During our work at Hope Corner Community Centre, we have met a number of residents and local people who have employment, training, vocational and volunteering needs.
The Job Club will partner with local employment specialists such as Boost and The Shaw Trust to deliver a range of opportunities. We also hope that there will be opportunities for local employment in the next phase of the Dollis Valley Regeneration Scheme.
Our target is to reach:
- School leavers who are not seeking further education and have no specific career plans.
- Adults who wish to retrain or change job sector.
- Adults who have significant barriers to employment after long periods of unemployment, poor health or learning difficulties.
- Older adults who have decided to go back to work after bringing up a family or had a break in employment. This group may have particular needs for training, including job and IT skills.
- Refugees or irregular migrants who have barriers to employment including language, culture and little or no formal training.
- Residents who are in need of part-time employment because they are caught in the ‘benefits versus work’ trap.
- Seniors who have retired but are still able to volunteer at community activities and events.
